Abstract


Psychological characteristics has been much considered in the diagnosis and treatment of T. M. J pain and dysfunction, but it is still controversial that psychological factors m3asured by means of various inventories and clinical interviews may be the etiology of symptom or the result of T. M. J problem.
Therefore, to inivestigate the relationship between psychological and environmental factors in the patients not thought the T. M. J problems serious, the author studyed the 238 male subjects with age of 19~21 residented in groups using the SCL-90-R.
The obtained results were as follows:
1. Ths profiles of symptom dimension had similar pattern except the ANX, and HOST. scales of the bruxism group bat as compared with the control group, the bruxism group showed significant high level.
2. It was significant (P<0.01) -in scales of SOM., PHOB., PAR. and PSY. between the bruxism and control groups.
3. It was significant (P< 0.01) in scales of PHOB., PSY. and ANX and not significant in scales of DEEP., HOS., and PAR. between the bruxism and T. NI. J Problem groups.
4. As compared with the control group, T. M. J problem group showed slight increase in the each scale but not significant.
